World Down Syndrome Day

March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day! The reason why it's March 21st, 3 - 21 signifies a 3rd copy of the 21st chromosome. In honor of the extra chromosome, we wear crazy socks (because the 21st chromosome looks like a sock), Rock your socks!

Jed’s doesn’t have school on WDSD (World Down Syndrome Day) but I still wanted to do something for his classmates to spread awareness. Unfortunately this year I didn’t plan far enough ahead to order socks from John's Crazy Socks (everyone should check them out) but luckily Target had my back! The dollar bins have socks on rotation for each holiday!

So I ran over to Target and picked up socks for his class, attaching a little note to each pair, informing them that they should be worn on 3/21 - World Down Syndrome Day.

I had this grand idea to make them all look super cute but only one
of them turned out like this because I am not a Pinterest Mom.

Then I remembered the kids are 3 and could care less about a ribbon.
So I put them in ziplock bags and saved myself from going crazy.

Wearing crazy socks isn’t the only thing you can do to celebrate Down Syndrome. Here are some more things you can do:

• Donate to Ruby's Rainbow: they give scholarships to help people with Down Syndrome achieve a higher education.

• Follow Cedar's Story and read one of the many diagnosis stories - there are tons!

• Wear a blue and yellow ribbon for Down Syndrome

• Donate to Reece's Rainbow: It is a great foundation that helps families raise money to adopt orphans with special needs.

• Do an act of kindness!

We are so excited to celebrate this year! Please tag us in your photos of how you're celebrating WDSD!

“It's best day of the year!!”
